CAMBRIDGE—Barbara Lee, founder and president of the Barbara Lee Political Office and a national expert on engaging women in American politics, today endorsed Councilor Ayanna Pressley in her bid for re-election to the Boston City Council At-Large.
“Ayanna Pressley is one of the city’s most engaging, committed, and dynamic leaders,” said Barbara Lee. “Ayanna is as qualified as she is compassionate – a combination she has used to get real results for the people of Boston in her two terms on the City Council. I am proud to have a long history encouraging and supporting Councilor Pressley, and I am thrilled to again endorse her candidacy for City Council At-Large.”
“She has taken the lead on the hard issues – women’s equality, domestic violence and trauma, job creation and retention – and has a track record of success. She will continue to step up to the plate and deliver common-sense solutions to the issues affecting the community.”
“Ayanna made history in 2009 when she was the first woman of color elected to Boston City Council,” Lee said. “That election earned her a place among ‘firsts,’ and her record earns her a place among ‘bests.’”
