BARBARA LEE
Today, philanthropic activist Barbara Lee announced her endorsement of three Massachusetts women candidates running for statewide officeâSalem Mayor Kim Driscoll (running for Lieutenant Governor), President of NAACP Boston Tanisha Sullivan (running for Secretary of State), and former Boston City Council President Andrea Campbell (running for Attorney General). As a national leader in advancing womenâs equality in American politics, Barbara Lee has helped elect 197 women in 33 states.
âIt is a dream come true for me to see so many qualified women running for elected office at the top of the ballot in Massachusetts! Not only am I a proud supporter of Attorney General Maura Healey in her race for MA Governor, I am also excited to announce today my endorsements of Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll for MA Lieutenant Governor, President of NAACP Boston Tanisha Sullivan for MA Secretary of State, and former Boston City Council President Andrea Campbell for MA Attorney General,â said Lee.
âEach of these women is highly qualified, and they will serve with enormous compassion and commitment to our state. They each have the experience and the drive to make a difference, and Iâm so pleased to support them.
As the four-term Mayor of Salem and a previous Deputy City Manager in Chelsea, Mayor Kim Driscoll is the most qualified candidate for Lieutenant Governor. As Mayor, Kim has skillfully steered Salem through multiple crises, including Covid-19 and the ensuing economic challenges. Her executive office experience and proven track record of inclusive and forward-thinking leadership have well-equipped her for the Lieutenant Governor role.
As the President of NAACP Boston, and a top-notch attorney, Tanisha Sullivan is ideally suited to serve as Secretary of State. She will lead with courage, conviction, and a remarkable capacity for innovation. Tanisha will bring new energy and a powerful vision for strengthening our democracy to this crucial office, ensuring that access to the ballot box is protected for every Bay Stater.
As an education advocacy lawyer, legal counsel to Governor Deval Patrick, and Boston City Council President, Andrea Campbell was a bold and thoughtful leader. We have seen in recent years how important strong state Attorneys General are for our democracy. As Attorney General, Andrea Campbell will be an influential leader for the country. Andreaâs authenticity, positivity, and dedication to standing up for people will make her an outstanding Attorney General.â
