Statement from Barbara Lee on the passing of Mayor Tom Menino

“The City of Boston and our entire state lost a giant with Mayor Tom Menino’s passing today. He was a friend, a leader, an icon, and my hero. Boston is the shining city on the hill, and we owe much of that legacy to Tom Menino’s light. My heart goes out to his loving wife, Angela, his family, his former staff, and his entire extended family of Boston. What I most admire and will always remember about Mayor Menino is his steadfast commitment to equality. He worked to create a level playing field for every family in every neighborhood and ensured women have a seat at the table. May his values continue to inspire us.”
